We see runners, during races or even during practice, who spit. Spitting may not be avoidable but is not entirely acceptable, especially if it hits you in the face.
Being a runner, and just like anyone, I want to be protected against other runners’ spit. I think no one would want to waste 2 minutes scrapping phlegm off their leg.
Wouldn’t it be nice if someone would invent a sensor system that will detect other runners who are spitting or is about to spit. The system should have a recording to alarm spitting runners. When someone at your back is about to spit, it will blurt out warnings: ”Ahem. Ahemmm. Excuse me… Hey you! YES YOU! You the guy in yellow bikinis… errr… runners shorts! What is in your mouth? What is that you are swirling inside your mouth? Don’t tell me it is Red wine. It is spit isn’t it? It is SPIT! Oh my God! How pathetic! Can you just swallow it? ”
I think I would like something like that. Run on, friends
Haha. That would be great. Sensor tech companies would be making a lot of money from sensors used in running gadgets.
Hi digitaldash, yup! hopefully Nike can invent one like it—attached to maybe like your sportband.
I wonder if there are any countries that don’t allow spit. Just a thought here.
Hahahaha… I would LOVE something like that too… And SFRUnner, in Singapore – you get fined when you spit and even worse when you spit gum!
wow. runner’s dilemma na rin pala ang “spit or swallow.” :p
how about a rule for runners that says spit only on your left? or perhaps the legal amount of phlegm you can spit be limited to say 10ml? hahaha
eemm… something for me to think about.. I usually spit but only when there’s no one around me. Sometimes I even clear the liquid from my nose… hehehe…. nice blog…
